Well it has been some time since I have sat down to update everyone. I have finished my fellowship and am now home with Jackson. Day #1- approximately 30 minutes of a planned 2 hour nap followed by a Jason's Deli trip where in I was about to feed Jackson chocolate pudding (which my pediatrician has outlawed until 1 year of age) to get him to relax/stop screaming at random intervals. He is now supposed to be 30 minutes into his second nap and instead is choosing to cruise around the crib and babble to anyone within earshot-namely me. Motherhood is definitely teaching me patience and to "expect the unexpected". Jackson is now 8 1/2 months old. He is very strong willed, not sure where he got that and..... he is VERY active. When awake he can hardly be pinned down. He loves being outdoors and seems to be most happy there. Since it is ~100 degrees here in July and August, we spend most of our outdoor time in the water. Jackson's first summer is moving right along, he will be a year old before we know it! Love, EJJ

Jackson hits the Beach

OK..........we just got back from our 8.5 hour car trip with little Jackson. We went to Destin by way of Phenix City to see Jackson's namesake-Faye Farrar (daughter of Eva Jackson). We had a blast and for being cooped up in the infant carrier for hours on end Jackson did well too. He loved his great grandomother Faye and was sad to leave.....I put some shots of his first swimming event which he loved. He had no fear whatsoever and attempted more than once to drink down the pool. Josh played Mr Mom while I was at the rheumatology conference next door. The boy bonding time was good for both of them. We all got a little R and R and fun family time, but we are glad to be home.........love to you......emily, josh & jackson

Jackson rounds the 4 month mark

Well here we are almost 4 and a half months into life on dry land for little Jackson. He has made the transition from the life aquatic pretty well. He is developing a pretty funny personality. He is like his mom in that he is a bit of a Curious George, he eats a little, looks around alot, then eats a little more. He likes to hang upside down by his feet (Josh discovered this), he has discovered that his hands can do alot of cool things-grab hair and hold onto your clothes when he doesn't want to be put down. He also has a very serious side that shows on his face-what in the world is going through that head???? He loves people and will go to anyone. He seems to make people happy everywhere he goes. He is a little shy and covers his mouth when he laughs. And wow, can he sleep anywhere.............He brings us immense joy and we can't wait to share him with all of you. Love to you all, EJJ

Leap year

Well today only occurs once every four years, so I thought since I have an extra day, I can get all the things done on my to-do list that have been staring me down for weeks now........One of which is to let all of you know how Jackson is faring in his first 100 days of life. He has been a blessing beyond what I could ever have imagined. He has taught both Josh and myself about the tenderness and graciousness of God. Some of the best advice I received was that "God with very little effort on my part made Jackson and God with very little effort on my part will keep Jackson". For a control freak such as I am, this really spoke to me and I realized that we are here with our little boy to point him to Christ and that all the rest of the "stuff" will be well managed by an ever-present and all knowing God. What a relief and joy to turn your son's life over the the very hands that formed him. Also as we have been singing over Jackson all sorts of delightful tunes, I imagine God holding us and singing the same blissful way that we do to our child. He is growing like a weed and is very solidly built. He has started laughing hysterically and is now sleeping ~12 hours at night. What more could you ask for.......................I can't wait to hear from you guys. Love to you all......EJJ

OK.....Jackson had his first shots yesterday, screamed appropriately and was easily soothed afterwards, but it was not very fun for me.....I could have used some soothing. His fighting weight is 12 lb 5 oz. He has nearly doubled his birthweight and has moved from 5th percentile (in utero) to 75 th percentile. We are absolutely thrilled! Dr Vasko says he is now ready to sleep thru the night-I can only hope Jackson was listening when he said this b/c currently he sleeps about 3 hours at a time after eating during the nighttime. He only has one issue and that is his excessive spit up, which like his father he is now on Prevacid for. I am so excited to hear from you all and will soon get some more pics on the site. Love to you guys, Emily, Josh, and Jackson
